New book for week "9" of the book club...I didn't make it to this week's meeting...regret it! but look forward to meeting with the ladies next meeting....Reading the title of this books makes me feel that this is a life changing book...can't wait to read it....

ReplyDeleteYaniesa,we missed you too but look forward to sharing the joy and laughter of our meetings with you at the next breakfast meeting on Sunday, November 30th from 10 to 11:30AM (yes that's a shameless plug-Ha!).
You're absolutely right about this little booklet we are reading for this month, it is life changing. From the first chapter entitled "It's not about you" it starts challenging our preconceived or often ingrained notions on life and our purpose for living.
Many people, not just women have been taught since childhood that the world revolves around them. The message may have been a subtle or underlying one but it is one that popular world view embraces and prolifirates through marketing campaigns, and popular media. You can't watch, hear or read anything without a messages of self reliance and self indulgence being hurled at us. As that chapter notes if we put the main emphasis on self we miss the mark. There will always be a knawing in our soul as to our purpose in life because without an understanding of God and His will for our lives we will be lost as to its meaning.
I like the analogy the author used when he said it's like us being handed a never before seen invention and being told to use it for its specific purpose; we won't know it unless we ask its creator. In the same way we won't know our purpose unless we seek the answer from our Creator God.
Without giving too much away (for those that are reading less than 2 pages per day)I will tell you that the 5 things listed on page 9 (the chapter "God has not left us in the dark to wonder & guess)reveals the purpose and where it can be found (no secret- it's in His Word the Bible).

Edee you are so right on. Refrence to page 9 "God's wisdom...goes deep into the interior of his purpose...It's not the latest message, but more like the oldest--what God determined as the way to bringg out his best in us"
